The CJMG organised the first Classic Japanese bike show in the South Island for around a decade. The show was a one day event that attracted 100 entries. The bikes were mostly from the Christchurch area and they ranged from 50cc through to the big 1100cc bikes.

There was a fantastic turn out from the general public with many positive comments on the quality of restoration work. An unexpected benefit for attendees was the informal bike show that developed in the car park as many guys rode to the event. The winner of this inaugural show was a spectacularly restored 1968 Suzuki T500 Cobra.
